The Skinny
Broadwater School will host an in-costume Halloween Fun Run on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Northwest Park (just south of Capital High). Proceeds from this run will be used for Broadwater Elementary School Parent Teacher Council projects and activities, including a proposed renovation of the School playground. Click here for more information on the Broadwater Go Native! Playscape Project. A 5k timed race will begin at 2:00 p.m., and a 1-mile fun run will begin at 3 p.m. A series of Halloween-themed obstacle courses will be set up in Northwest Park for all registered runners and walkers, and treats and beverages will be provided at the finish lines. So get your awkward runner on and come join in the Halloween fun!
Everyone Gets a T-Shirt!
Everyone who registers and wants a t-shirt will get a t-shirt! Runners and walkers who registered before or on October 15 will receive their t-shirts in the registration area on race day. A limited number of first-come, first-served t-shirts in youth sizes will also be available on race day for those who registered after October 15.
For all those registered who don't pick up a t-shirt on race day, we will be placing a second order and these t-shirts will be available for pick-up at Broadwater School, 900 Hollins Avenue, Helena, during the second week of November.

The Schedule
Noon to 1:30 p.m. same day registration and packet pick-up
1:25 to 1:45 p.m. Zumba warm-up for 5K
2:00 p.m. start of 5K
3:00 p.m. start of 1 mile
3:30 p.m. awards ceremony and announcement of raffle winners
Three-Way Registration
Registration fees are $15 per person or $30 per family. Everyone registering as a family must submit a hard copy or online registration form for EACH family member along with the registration fee.

5K Course
Runners on the 5k course will begin on the northwest corner of Northwest Park on Brady Street near the northwest corner of Northwest Park and follow Brady Street west to Henderson Street. Runners and walkers will then turn right (north) onto the paved bike/pedestrian path along Henderson Street until they reach West Custer Avenue, where they will turn right (east) on the pedestrian path paralleling Custer. Runners and walkers will follow the paved bike/pedestrian path along West Custer Avenue until they reach the intersection of Custer Avenue and North Benton Avenue. Participants will then turn right (south) on the paved bike/pedestrian path along Benton and follow it across the railroad tracks to the gravel Centennial Trail just past the tracks. They will continue west on the Trail and to Henderson Street, where they will turn right (north) onto the paved bike/pedestrian path and follow it under the train trestle until they reach the intersection with Brady Street. Participants will then turn right (east) onto Brady Street, run back over the starting line, and onto the dirt trail that follows the southern perimeter of Northwest Park. Runners and walkers will then follow the Northwest Park trail to Valley Drive and the finish line.
1-Mile Course
Participants running or walking in the 1-mile course will begin on Brady Street near the northwest corner of Northwest Park and follow Brady Street west to Henderson Street. Runners and walkers will then turn right (north) onto the paved bike/pedestrian path along Henderson Street until they reach West Custer Avenue, where they will turn right (east) on the pedestrian path paralleling Custer. Runners and walkers will follow the paved bike/pedestrian path along Custer to Valley Drive, where they will make a final right turn heading south on Valley Drive to the finish line.
Overcome the Obstacles and Win a Prize!
Numerous Halloween-themed obstacle courses will be open to all runners in Northwest Park. Our friends at the Capital High School Key Club will be constructing and managing the obstacle courses. Everyone who completes the obstacle courses can spin the wheel for a prize!
The Raffle
Tickets for the race raffle will be available in the registration area of the Northwest Park parking lot from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tickets are one for $1 or 6 for $5. We are raffling off the following three items:
